This is based actual information not just pre-conceived notions. Transcona finished last (or first, depending on how you look at it) in Take Pride Winnipeg’s “Litter Index” being the dirtiest while St Boniface was the cleanest…even though there were bad spots for little in all areas of the city!

The Litter Index measures the amount of litter on different streets in 12 areas of the city and each is rated between 1 (clean) and 4 (extremely littered).

Transcona’s 2.56 took top spot

Litter Index Rankings – Dirtiest to Cleanest

The litter index is rated on a scale from 1 (no litter) to 4 (extremely littered). The survey of the city was done between March 23 and 27.

  2. Downtown – 2.46
  3. Northeast – 2.45
  4. Northwest – 2.37
  5. North/Central – 2.32
  6. St. Vital/Osborne – 2.12
  7. West End – 2.12
  8. Southwest – 2.08
  9. West – 2.0
  10. Fort Rouge/Fort Garry – 1.97
  11. South – 1.95
  12. St. Boniface – 1.85
