Drew’s Reviews: Now You See Me 2

**SPOILER FREE REVIEW**

Now You See Me 2, a magician heist film hits theatres June 10th. It brings most of the cast back together from the 2013 movie and picks up shortly after the original film leaves off.

I had the chance to check out the movie a few days early. Will you be checking out Now You See Me 2?

Synopsis:

The Four Horsemen resurface after a year in hiding and are victims after one of their magic tricks is turned against them. The group is forcibly recruited by a tech genius and tasked with pulling off their most impossible heist yet. Cast: Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Daniel Radcliffe, Lizzy Caplan, Michael Caine, and Morgan Freeman.

The Good:

The plot isn’t super complex. This could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on the type of movie-going experience you want. Don’t overthink the characters’ motivations, means, or the logistics involved in pulling off the “Four Horseman’s” stunts in the timeframes they’re given. Also, Lizzy Caplan (who you may remember as Jason’s girlfriend from the first season of True Blood if you were a fan of that show) is awesome in this movie! She replaces Isla Fisher’s character and brings a really distinct witty humour to the “Four Horseman.”

Will you like it?

This is just a straight-up fun, heist movie. If you’re looking for simple entertainment and are willing to roll with the characters and plot without asking too many questions, you will enjoy this movie. The visuals of the tricks are pretty cool on the big screen. The cast plays off of each other really well. I’d suggest rewatching the first one just to remember who is who, but it’s not necessary.

Rating:

3.5/5
