Remember the days of going to rent a movie or video game on a Friday night?

It’s something I think about often. Seriously! It was awesome when we were kids, you’d get home from school and your parents would say “let’s go rent some movies”! At least it was awesome for me! Even as a young adult it was great.

Let’s be honest, being able to get a movie on demand on your TV, not worrying about late fees and not having to venture out in bad weather is pretty great…there was just something fun about going and renting from one of the major movie store chains.

People in Alaska still get to have the experience! Turns out that there are at least 10 Blockbuster stores still operating in the United States with 7 of those locations STILL  thriving in Alaska. The reason for it…expensive Wi-Fi and LONG, COLD winters! There’s also a few locations still operating in Texas!

Here’s an interesting BLOCKBUSTER fact:  “At its peak , Blockbuster was bringing in $6 billion annually and had more than 9,000 stores in the U.S alone”…now just the 7!
