Amber Alert Cancelled For Young Saskatchewan Girl

A devastating end to what was thought to be a parental abduction. The Amber Alert has been canceled after a young girl from Nipawin, in northeastern Saskatchewan, was found dead.

7-year-old Nia Eastman should have been returned to her mother by 7pm yesterday and Mounties believed she was taken by her father Adam Jay Eastman.

 

Adam Jay Eastman was found dead around 5:30am Thursday morning. The RCMP say he appears to have died from self-inflicted wounds.

CBCNews reports that Adam Eastman appeared in Nipawin provincial court on an assault charge Wednesday stemming from an incident in August 2016.

Thursday afternoon Saskatchewan RCMP found the body of Nia Eastman, 7, in a home in the community of Choiceland, two clocks from the school she attended.

There is no indication that anyone else was involved in her disappearance, though police are trying to uncover what exactly happened after Nia was picked up from school on Wednesday.
