Jamie Lee Curtis, the ultimate scream queen, is finally saying goodbye to the Halloween franchise after playing the iconic Laurie Strode for more than 40 years.

In January Jamie posted a side-by-side photo of herself in character, past and present.  I woke up early this morning and realized I’ve been inhabiting Laurie Strode for 44 years. Her dreams became mine. Her nightmares too. Throughout it all a profound sense of gratitude to the fans that have kept her relevant and gave me employment for such a long time and I’m so f*^%ing exited by this new movie we are making,” she wrote in the caption.

Jamie first played Laurie in the original ‘Halloween’ movie, released in 1978 and directed by John Carpenter, and went on to appear in a handful of sequels before returning to the franchise in the 2018 reboot-sequel.

In her farewell post, Jamie writes, “A bittersweet END for me on the Halloween movies. I’ve made great friends and have collaborated with wonderful artists on these three movies and today my part in the film has been completed and with it the END for me of this trilogy. It’s all because of the fans who have always supported me and more importantly, Laurie, and the creative teams at BLUMHOUSE.”
